Silkscreen goodness over at David R. Head Jr.. Via Jen, who writes

David believes that art should be modern, functional and, most importantly, affordable. At $20 each, David's calendars make a unique, inexpensive gift to take the bore out of everyday decor.

He has designed freelance rock poster art for Microsoft's Zune mp3 player and was recently approached by Chicago's Coudal Partners to create a limited edition calendar to sell on their 'Swap Meat' website.

$20 - fair enough.

Just discovered this fantastic post at the trivia-laden deputydog.

Have a look at "popular stuff" list, including such gems as seven amazing holes, extreme rich-poor devides, and the top 10 physical transformations for film.

Who's taller: Johnny Knoxville or Saddam Hussain? (I'm assuming pre-execution).

Find out with a Who tall are you? wallchart.

Chinese Toy Factory

chinese toy factory

25 images from inside a Chinese toy factory. Considering the photographer was granted permission to take these, I imagine the conditions in the factory are thought of as exemplary.

It is interesting to see how Google Adsense happily places adverts into what is arguably a negative context for the customer. Then again, companies looking for cheap production facilities may well be pleased to see that the their money isn't going towards anything as superfluous as worker nutrition or facilities.

louise - the tattooed pig

Louise (now sadly deceased and taxidermied) was raised, fed and tattooed at Wim Delvoye's Art Farm in China (where animal welfare regulations turn a blind eye to tattooing - sidethought: is branding still allowed in the west?)

Other pigs have more classical tattoo motifs, Disney characters, or brand figureheads.

I'm not sure if David Lachapelle had seen lil' Louise when he shot this.
