The Happy Planet Index confirms what we've always believed: It's a good thing to live on a tropical beach.

A country's HPI is calculated as follows:

Life satisfaction x Life expectancy

Ecological Footprint

Putting Vanutu and Colombia on top. Whoda thought it? Life satisfaction seems a pretty difficult thing to measure against a global norm, and that ecological footprint is a killer! Take the survey yourself. Here's my result:

Your personal Happy Planet Index (HPI) is 39.6, which is similar to that of countries such as Canada, Palestine or Ireland. Sorry to say that this is below the world average of 46, and about the same as the UK average. Your score is about the same as that of your country, 43.8.
